Urgent Warning from Nvidia CEO: Your Job May Be Affected by AI

In a recent address at London Tech Week, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang posited an intriguing comparison between programming artificial intelligence (AI) and “programming a person.” Huang envisions AI as a “great equalizer” because it allows individuals to develop programs using everyday language, democratizing the field of computing.

Historically, computing was challenging, requiring mastery of programming languages, architecture, and intricate computer design. However, as Huang points out, this landscape has drastically changed with the advent of a new programming language: “human.” While many may not be fluent in C++ or Python, everyone is conversant in human language.

Expounding on his comparison, Huang explained that programming an AI is remarkably similar to programming a person. If you were to ask a skilled poet to compose a poem about a keynote address, for instance, the poet would deliver a captivating piece. Similarly, an advanced AI could be instructed to do the same and would generate a poem that, with some guidance, could be refined and improved upon.

Huang’s Warning

Huang warned that the employment market will probably change as a result of this greater capacity to use AI. While automation may not directly lead to job loss, it will widen the divide between those who effectively use AI as a tool and those who do not. In an address at the Milken Institute Global Conference earlier this year, Huang emphasized that one might lose their job to someone who employs AI, rather than to an AI itself.

In other news, Huang forecasts that the next decade will usher in the era of autonomous driving cars, robots, and autonomous machines. In an interview with CNBC’s Arjun Kharpal at the Viva Tech conference in Paris, he reiterated this prediction: “This is going to be the decade of AV (autonomous vehicles), robotics, and autonomous machines.”

And on a separate note, Apple’s new manufacturing hub will be located in India. This strategic move marks a significant shift in the tech giant’s production strategy. With India becoming the new home for many iPhone models, the country is poised to play an increasingly important role in the global technology landscape.
